August 22, 2009 – St. Louis, Missouri – The St. Louis office of ESS Data Recovery (datarecovery.com) has successfully retrieved valuable pictures and video of rock bands Nickelback and Staind, the company announced today.

Fran Strine has toured with the bands for over 3 years, and has stored his day to day work on an external hard drive. The drive failed when Staind lead singer Aaron Lewis jokingly threatened to tip over a table in Strine’s workspace–then he accidentally knocked the hard drive off, instantly damaging the delicate read/write heads that hard drives use to access data. “He asked me, did you have that whole thing backed up? I shook my head no” said Strine.

The hard drive had promotional pictures from Staind’s 2009 tour, in total about 9 months of video and pictures that couldn’t be replaced, and promotional pictures for rock giants Nickelback. At Lewis’s urging, Strine immediately looked online for a data recovery company, and found ESS Data Recovery. After reading client testimonials and speaking with data recovery technicians, he sent the drive in for an emergency recovery.

“We have a hectic touring schedule, we’re in a new city each day, so we had to be careful that the data would be recovered quickly and arrive at our hotel on time, or shipping problems could have messed everything up,” Strine said. “ESS got 100% of the data back and sent it directly to us. I’m completely happy with how things turned out, I couldn’t have asked for better service,” continued Strine.

“I’d put the value of the data at over $100,000, when you consider the hotels we’ve booked, venues we’ve played, plane tickets, and everything else.”

Staind will be back in action in St. Louis for Pointfest 2009, with Lo-Pro, Halestorm, Chevelle, Shinedown, and more.

ESS Data Recovery (datarecovery.com) has provided data backup, recovery, and forensic services since 1998, with locations in California, Minnesota, and the headquarters near St. Louis.
